I’m really enjoying these Darren Aronofsky anti-meth spots. Beautiful young people getting totally fucked up is certainly his forte.

Aronofsky reference 2 in Black Swan: Nina’s breakfast = “What diet?” from Requiem For A Dream
This is an interesting interview of Matthew Libatique the Director of Photography from the new film Black Swan. I had no idea they used some HDLSRs for a couple of scenes. Especially in a very tight spot (location) literally.
We used a Canon 7D or 1D Mark IV for all the subway scenes; I could just carry a 7D and shoot on the subway all day with a very small crew. I did some tests with my wife beforehand to figure out my ASA, my stop, and how I was going to deal with the focus. I didn’t use any rigs with it because I wasn’t trying to shoot in the traditional way.
Libatique = gold
BLACK SWAN SPOILER ALERT:
+ Mila Kunis plays almost the same character as she does in Forgetting Sarah Marshall, which we were never led to believe, and it’s still enormously cute. I mean, she eats CHEESEBURGERS even though she’s a BALLET DANCER!
+ Also, it’s better than everyone is saying and actually the Aronofsky movie I’ve been expecting since Requiem For a Dream.
+ ALSO, if awards are given for sheer intensity in acting then Portman wins for infinity and it’s no real surprise that she will follow it up with a romcom and stoner comedy.
+ ALSO how can Natalie Portman be disgusting and gorgeous simultaneously like Vincent Cassel? They are so talented!
+ ALSO “Got enough cheese?” “No, but you do,” is the worst line ever. Luckily the line “This is Tom and this is Jerry!” follows a little later. That was hilarious.
