Fresh Meat is shaping up to be a right cracker. Such a slow-burner but always worth the wait. Last week’s episode was the best by miles and the next one looks even better.

Vod is GOD, such a wicked character. Also loving Howard and can’t believe I’m actually starting to like Jack Whitehall, the bloody posho. Written by the Peep Show dudes that aren’t Mitchell and Webb, it’s not quite the fresh take on uni life that it could be but there’s enough idiosyncrasy and non-sequiturs to make me really, really, really miss uni. It’s not a groundbreaker, it’s just funny.

So, fans of the Britcom! Get on this. If you’re not here and your IP isn’t hidden, just torrent the fucking thing. (That’s what Vod would say, anyway.)

Caught Off Base With Nadia

(I have no idea if this is a huge thing already but I just found it ok?!)

A while back I made the resolution to follow baseball and as expected, other things got in the way; mostly one of my favourite pastimes, that of seeing someone familiar (Nadia Dajani) on TV (Curb) and searching IMDb for where I’ve seen them before (Nina Katz, Aidan’s new girlfriend on Sex & the City who makes the face and is a booker on SNL and knows Heather Graham).

But that’s not the end of the pastime, that’s just a quick case of looking stuff up. Depending on the quality of the trivia section, this can turn into a full-scale, multiple-hour research project where one becomes fully informed on the career history and side projects of various, sort of obscure personalities. Often, I find little beauties like this baseball-related blog that make me LOL and genuinely feel satisfied with how the time is passed. Other interesting trivia is that this chick is BFFs with Ad-Rock, sings backing vocals on Jimmy Fallon’s album (lol remember that?) and was roommates with Chris Parnell. And dated Ethan Hawke.

But that’s really neither here nor there. Watch this video, it is amusing and has John Slattery in it (and some other bros that probably have something to do with baseball?)

Is the British roundabout conquering the US?

stever:

And Dan Neil, motoring correspondent at the Wall Street Journal, personally welcomes their arrival but thinks there is something deep in the American psyche which is fundamentally opposed to them.

“This is a culture predicated on freedom and individualism, where spontaneous co-operation is difficult and regimentation is resisted.

“You see it in the way Americans get in line, or as the Brits say, queue. We don’t do that very well.

“Behind the wheel, we’re less likely to abide by an orderly pattern of merging that, though faster for the group, may require an individual to slow down or, God forbid, yield.”

Americans tend to be orthogonal in their thinking and behaviour, he says.

“We like right angles, yes and no answers, Manichean explanations. Roundabouts require more subtlety than we’re used to.”

Un-American or not, it’s only a matter of time before they are covering every US state, says Gene Russell, a leading civil engineering professor at Kansas State University.

A Shepherd’s Pie is very easy to make, and, its topping of fluffy, creamy mashed potato covering succulent hot mince, vegetables and gravy oozes flavour! This isn’t just a Shepherd’s Pie however. This is a well designed, shiny, self adhesive Shepherd’s Pie coming soon to a Central Line train near you.
