This is the saddest, most heartbreaking-est song ever. Almost sadder than the line “Our day will come” in the new one. Zane Lowe is playing Back To Black in full on Masterpieces on Radio 1, which was prefaced by discussions with collaborators and soundclips of Amy and I’m this close to being a mess but I’m not and I’m tweeting relative strangers as we all sit and listen together to a record that was supposed to be on last year’s Masterpieces but wasn’t. I’ve been listening to a lot of Amy lately for one reason or another and I’m glad Zane & co. haven’t allowed bandwagon-jumpers and those who only consider it a “masterpiece” since her death to take away its impact or relevance or meaning or sheer sonic beauty.

Jónsi - Time To Pretend (MGMT)

I’m assuming this is all over the internet already due to Tumblr’s once keen affection for MGMT and the involvement of a typical Vimeon’s favourite singer but I was quite impressed when I heard this on Jo Whiley’s show yesterday. Time To Pretend actually kind of means a lot to me (I’ll probably tell you why one day) and despite its ubiquity at the time of its release and the subsequent months of MGMT fever I don’t think I’ll ever tire of it, especially if people keep finding cool ways to perform it.
