Yay! It was actually harder to schedule an interview with these guys - my friends - than with international bands just passing through, purely because the last six months has been so crazy for them.
After getting signed to Chop Shop (run by TV/music supervisor extraordinaire Alex Patsavas - The OC, Gossip Girl, Twilight etc) they were swept out of their Slice the Pie-earned Bradford studio to mix their debut album in LA, then off to SXSW for the first time. Having their songs played on shows like CSI:NY and The Cleaner brought them a ton of overnight American fans and the now-finished album will be released in the US first.
Not bad, eh? Nice to see they’ve kept their Bradford roots with some lengthy curry banter.
If you’re at SXSW be sure to check out some friends of The Just A Minute Project playing there:

CALLING ALL ARTISTS/DESIGNERS/TYPOGRAPHERS
My pals in Scars On 45 are currently in LA mixing their debut album and are looking for a brand spanking new logo.
They’re signed to Chop Shop Records (part of Atlantic) and are playing SXSW so they’re like, a real band. (This might be good exposure for you or whatever.)
Check out their MySpace to get a feel for their sound and shoot me an email if you’d like to be put in touch with them.
My buddy Nova and his band finally signed a record deal today!
Check out Scars On 45 - I know it’s dumb to be all “listen to my friend’s band, man” but they’re actually really good and just signed to Chop Shop.
I’m made up for them!
Always for you.
Ever since I saw this music video 3 years ago, it has always made me smile every time I watched it. And I’m pleased that it still makes me think of you.
I love The Album Leaf but I’d never seen this video before. It’s good and the premise is actually pretty similar to a video I shot for Scars On 45 in 2007.
Or read it on Jennifer Morris On Music, which many of you have started following. How kind of you! [That sounds really sarcastic. Seriously though, thanks.]
If any of you lovely people play music and would like a review, or even an email interview, do let me know coz I need the practice.
