Blonde Redhead - 23
I like when they go back in time in sitcoms.

notes about nothingJames Blake // Limit To Your Love (Feist cover)
One of few songs I don’t mind hearing being played repetitively throughout the day on Radio 1. In fact I first heard it as Zane Lowe’s Hottest Record In The World! a couple of months ago. Yesterday I think Huw Stephens compared it to The xx - having silences in all the right places, which is apt as he’s been playing with them.
One of the top-rated comments on this on YouTube is “If this was something I could fuck…. I would fuck it.” Try listening and not wanting to! He’s DJing at Nation Of Shopkeepers on Friday which means if I do make it into the city I’ll probably see him after the others.
The xx // Infinity
Music from The xx has been used in a lot of shows (and strangely as the BBC election coverage theme) but this worked really well in the last episode of Hung, a show that’s not groundbreaking but is never less than good. It could also be the first time I’ve seen Anne Heche in something and didn’t want to stab her in the face.
The Internet is so awesome that I befriended photographer Bart Pettman after “meeting” him on Flickr. We met IRL last summer when he came to snap the Dan Meth screening and as I’ve been around the music scene more he seems to be getting more prolific and just pretty awesome.
Here’s a great shadow shot from a recent xx gig. Click through to see some more awesome work, particularly all the stuff he’s done with Leeds label Brew.
The xx - Islands
I know this is old now but I still like it. I know The xx are getting major airplay now but I still like them.
I’m in love with the opening of this video. I love how repeating images can be so effective. It seems that they change with the music but they don’t at all, the music changes them. It’s like how long portraits work - the expressions don’t change because you look at them for a minute or two, it’s your interpretation of them that changes over the time.
Amsterdam Acoustics - The XX : Crystalised from Mokummercials on Vimeo.
The Amsterdam Acoustics channel has some pretty good European acts on it. Check it out.
I’m enjoying Spotify like everyone else. But I like owning music more.
need to cheer up as I will be seeing them live on Monday and am not sure I could get through one of their sets.
